This catalogue is dedicated to the Exploded Tableaux by Niki de Saint Phalle, a vast series of works created in homage to Jean Tinguely after his death. Paintings composed of cut-out shapes are brought into action by motorized devices as spectators pass by (drawing on the formula of “Méta-reliefs” by Tinguely) while developing themes and a plastic vocabulary specific to Niki de Saint Phalle.
The work presented at the ARC in 1993 during the retrospective of the artist orchestrated by Suzanne Pagé, and exhibited for the first time in a gallery in France in 2023. The pop-up cover of this book allows you to recompose the pattern of a painting with pull tabs!
