This handmade brooch, inspired by Kees van Dongen's The Corn Poppy in the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston Collection, gives you a souvenir that is in itself a little piece of art. Wear it as a brooch or pendant on a necklace, or use the sticker on the back to make a wall decoration.
This custom bead and needle art piece was commissioned by the MFA Shop for designer Hellen van Berkel, fully handmade in a small Calcutta workshop where master embroidery artists take pride in their work. By collaborating with them, Hellen van Berkel supports and celebrates the time-consuming process of hand embroidery and its heritage.
Inspired by: Kees van Dongen, The Corn Poppy, 1919. Oil on canvas. John A. and Audrey Jones Beck Collection, gift of Audrey Jones Beck.
